Wine Tasting Benefit to Support the Historical Society of Woodstock's Building Fund

The Historical Society of Woodstock will host a wine tasting benefit for its building fund on Saturday May 2 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at Oriole9 in Woodstock. Featuring a wide-variety of wines selected by wine specialists Dr. David Baggett and Tina Grill, all proceeds from the event will go to assisting the Historical Society as it seeks to expand its facilities to include a new handicap-accessible bathroom, electrical and lighting upgrades, foundation repair and kitchen and storage space.

Dr. David Baggett is Professor Emeritus of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Modesto College of the Yosemite Community College District in California. Dr. Baggett taught wine evaluation, produced and judged commercial wines, and established and managed a 14 acre vineyard at the colleges instructional farm during his tenure from 1994-2014. Tina Grill is a retired Massachusetts public school teacher of visual arts and was a sensory analyst on the wine evaluation panel at E & J Gallo Winery in Modesto for seven years.

The evening's wine tasting will be complemented by a number of special appetizers from local restaurants and establishments, including: The Little Bear, Landau Grill, Woodstock Meats, Adams Fairacre Farms, Lucky Chocolates, New World Home Cooking, and our host, Oriole9.

In addition, the evening will also feature a silent auction where those in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on such items as: a weekend stay for family or friends (or yourself!) at two unique cottages in Woodstock, five classes at Woodstock Yoga, a painting by Philip Lekki, a handmade silver and malachite stone and beads necklace, a gift certificate from Kingston Body Therapeutics, passes for interactive archery lessons at KENCO, a history gift basket from the Historical Society of Woodstock, and, of course an assorted variety of wines from our generous sponsors, Town and Country Liquors in Saugerties and The Liquor Cabinet on Route 28.

Music for the evening will be provided by well-know musician, Gregory Dinger.

Tickets for the event are $30.00 and are available at the door (reservations are not required for this event). In addition to simply enjoying the evening, each person in attendance will receive their own wine glass with the HSW logo featuring Overlook Mountain embossed on each glass.

The Historical Society of Woodstock is a 501(c)3 organization that has worked to preserve Woodstock history since 1929. As an all-volunteer organization, the Society relies on the support of the community to continue to fulfill its mission. So, come to Oriole9 on May 2 and enjoy a fun-filled evening that will support this important effort by the Historical Society of Woodstock. Remember, it's your history.
