Membership Letter 2020

                                                                                                                                    March 2020

Dear Friend,

The board of the Historical Society of Woodstock and volunteers are preparing for another robust summer season celebrating the multilayered history of Woodstock N.Y.  It is only with your support that we continue our efforts in providing excellent local history programming and maintaining extensive and accessible archives.  We hope that you will renew your HSW Membership or become a member for the first time. All donations of $100 or more will be recognized on our HSW Donation Tree, beautifully crafted by Rennie Cantine.

The Historical Society of Woodstock is an all-volunteer organization. We remain committed to our mission of collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of the people who have lived in Woodstock, N.Y.  Highlights of the 2020 season are as follows:

·       Fourth Annual Estate Sale at Eames, April 4 and 5

·       Works in Wire Alison Eriksen, A retrospective Tribute, Opening May 1, 2020

·       Seasons: Catching Nature’s Cycles, selected works from the collection of the Historical Society, Opening June 13

·       Theatre on the Road - Cemetery Tours starting, September 9, 2020

·       Standing on Their Shoulders: 100 Years of Voting and Still Marching for Women’s Rights, Opening September 19

Further details of our four shows, fund raisers and upcoming programs can be found on our website:  www.historicalsocietyofwoodstock.org.

As activity at the Historical Society of Woodstock continues to expand, we strive to find ways to best meet the needs of our community and the HSW Collection. This year, we have initiated a renovation of what has, for decades, been referred to as “the Raccoon room”.  Once the renovation is complete, we will have a first floor accessible office/meeting space that will enhance our service to the historical research community.  When completing your membership form, we hope you will designate an additional contribution to our         “office renovation fund”. Our goal for this project is $6,500.  As always, we are extremely grateful for the support we continue to receive from the Woodstock community.

Sincerely,

Janine Fallon – Mower

President
